PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -

One Peachtree City teenager is facing charges and another is recovering from a severe brain injury after a golf cart full of teens crashed.

Starr's Mill sophomore Janice Dominguez is supposed to be enjoying her summer break from school.  But instead, she's in the hospital with a brain bleed and multiple fractures.  Janice faces a very long recovery after the tragic accident.

Police dash cam video shows paramedics pulling 15-year-old Dominguez out of a ditch after the crash.  She landed there along with the golf cart she had been riding in.  Police say the teen who was driving lost control of the golf cart, and slammed into a tree.

Dominguez's mom tells FOX 5 her daughter doesn't remember the crash, and she was unconscious for four days following the May 9 accident.  Now, she's awake and being cared for at Atlanta Medical Center, but she's still unable to walk and has severe injuries to her back and her brain.

Peachtree City police say the driver of the golf cart was going much too fast as they came down the hill.

"They may or may not meet the criteria required to charge them with serious injury by vehicle, so we will have to wait until there's some better prognosis for the patient before we determine what the charge is," said Lt. Matt Myers, who confirmed the teen will face charges.

That teenager, who is only 15 years old, will definitely be charged with underage driving. In Peachtree City, the law requires that you must be 16 years old to drive a golf cart without an adult.

Dominguez's mom says she hopes her daughter's story will remind teens that it's important to slow down and follow golf cart laws.

The Dominguez family does not have insurance, so a fund has been set up to help them with their mounting medical expenses. If you'd like to make a donation, please contact Wells Fargo Bank in Peachtree City.
