Police are searching for the burglars responsible for ransacking a southwest Atlanta convenience store overnight. Investigators say they stole cash and thousands of dollars in scratch-off lottery tickets.

The burglary happened at the Jay Foodmart on Sylvan Road.  Officers say the burglars cut through a security fence outside the store and then likely used a sledge hammer to bust through the outside wall to get inside. The suspects also cut wires to the outside security cameras and the internet and tore off the electric meter to the store, according to store owner Vijay Yadav.

Police say they hope surveillance video from the store will lead them to the suspects. The footage shows three men -- all with faces covered -- grab about $2,000 in cash and cigarettes.

They also grabbed several plastic displays of scratch-off lottery tickets.

After about two minutes, the men left the store through the hole they'd entered.

The store's owner said cleaning up the mess the burglars left behind won't be cheap.

"Maybe cost like $2,000 for that, so I have to pay everything for that," said Yadav.

Customers said Yadav's store is a bright spot in the neighborhood, but this is the second break-in in less than a month. Yadav says his business is becoming a waste.

"I have my family here. People are breaking this, that, so I'm just wasting time, wasting money here," Yadav said.

The store owner said that he has insurance, but after the break-ins, he's not sure how much of the damage will be covered.
