MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

A beloved Dinkytown DJ died after driving his motorcycle off the road in southeastern Minnesota Tuesday evening.

The Star Tribune reports Omari O. Omari landed in a ditch after running off a two-lane highway and striking a tree along Highway 60 southwest of Wabasha. He was wearing a helmet.

Omari, 32, has been a late-night DJ at the Loring Pasta Bar in Dinkytown for the past seven years and was also a member of the dance DJ group Salsa Police.

He and Twin Cities model Maria Paz Barrios were set to become parents soon. Barrios is expected to give birth to his daughter any day.

Omari would have been the DJ at a memorial fundraiser Thursday night for Ivan Romero Olivares, the motorcyclist who was killed Friday after colliding with a police squad SUV responding to a shooting in Uptown.

The event will go on at Las Mojarras at 1507 East Lake Street at 7 p.m., and Omari and Olivares will both be honored.
