CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago reached 90 degrees for the first time this year on Tuesday. This happening just a day after we started at 36 degrees. That's a 54 degree warm up making this the largest 1 day warm up ever for the month of May breaking the old record of 50 degrees set back in May of 1992.

Back in February of 1877, Chicago experienced a 58 degree 1 day warm up. This is the largest EVER for Chicago.

Chicago normally sees its 1st 90 degree day around May 30th. Last year we saw our first 90 degree day on May 19th.

On average, Chicago (O'Hare) sees 18 days in the 90s, 21 days in the 90s at Midway Airport, and only 10 days at Northerly Island. The record number of days in the 90s in Chicago still stands at 47 set back in 1988.

The photos give a sneak peek at what the summer months of June, July, & August are expected to look in terms of temperature and precipitation.
