Ivan Romero Olivares' friend Leandro Camacho, fighting back tears, told FOX 9 out of respect for Ivan and his family, he had to stop, light a candle, and pray.
"For years, a good friend and unfortunately a lost life. His mom is in Mexico, she's just torn up. His mom all the family is broken," Camacho said.
According to Camacho, Ivan lived in the United States for the last six years, describing him as a kind human being. From his Facebook page, it's clear he was in love with his girlfriend, Joselin Torrejon.
Friday, Camacho said Ivan was eager to ride his motorcycle. He and Joselin were riding here on Blaisdell Avenue South and 26th when they collided with an MPD squad car.
Ivan is now gone, and Joselin is in satisfactory condition at Hennepin County Medical Center.
Ivan leaves behind plenty of family and friends in the area.
Saturday afternoon, Joselin posted a photo of herself and Ivan, with the caption "Te amo." I love you, written underneath. These are words his loved ones likely wished they had the chance to tell him just one last time.
