HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

A multi-million dollar project is about to get underway at Lake St. Clair Metropark in Macomb County to make it more eco-friendly.

A groundbreaking ceremony took place Thursday for a $3.3 million Storm Water Greenscape Project that will tear up half of a huge parking lot and change the park's landscape to reduce the amount of untreated storm water flowing into Lake St. Clair.

Construction will start later this month and is expected to be completed in eight to twelve months.

Lake St. Clair Metropark was formerly known at Metro Beach.

Watch Robin Schwartz's video report for more on this story, including what others additions are being made to the park.
