Rising water floods Lithia Springs park

Posted: Updated:
LITHIA SPRINGS, Ga. -

Hours after the heavy rains stopped, flooding has become big concern in Lithia Springs. Relentless rains caused Sweetwater Creek to overflow and flood Woodrow Wilson Park.

The park was nearly submerged on Monday, with swings and slides underwater. Authorities closed off nearby roads in the area.

Nearby residents are concerned, and are keeping a close eye on the water.

In nearby Austell, which endured record flooding in 2009, crews put up barricades along several roads threatened by rising waters.

As the hours passed on Monday, the danger receded. Horses reclaimed their pastures as others waited to see what the waters washed away.
