St. Cloud police confirmed a bomb squad detonated a suspicious object Saturday evening after monitoring an area of the city for a majority of the day.
Crow Wing County bomb squad safely destroyed the item, found between Division and First Street, around 4:45 p.m. Police confirmed Monday that the item was consistent with a "cricket" bomb, an explosive device made from an empty CO2 cartridge. The item did not contain any shrapnel, and had a non-timer type fuse. There were no injuries reported.
St. Cloud resident Corey Gaulrapp reported the item, resting half a block from his home, to police on Saturday morning. Gaulrapp believed it to be a pipe bomb, and said the item was heavy, white and had a fuse.
Police are continuing to investigate.
