CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man from the southwest suburbs had to be subdued with a Taser by Naperville police, after he and two women allegedly stole merchandise from at least two local businesses.

Jason A. Levigne, 30, of Worth, faces trial in DuPage County Circuit Court on charges of aggravated assault and retail theft, following the incident Tuesday afternoon in downtown Naperville.

Heidi M. Levigne, 38, also of Worth, and Jordana M. Grabenhorst, 24, of Astoria, Ore., were arrested and charged with single counts of retail theft.

Naperville police Sgt. Lou Cammiso, in a terse Wednesday news release, said police were called about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday to the area of Jefferson Avenue and Main Street, following a report of "suspicious activity" there.

"Upon investigation, officers learned (the Levignes and Grabenhorst) had been involved in retail thefts from at least two area businesses," Cammiso said. "During the course of the investigation, one of the subjects fled the scene and was pursued by officers."

Jason Levigne, "following a brief foot pursuit ... charged at an officer, who was required to deploy her Taser in order to take him into custody," Cammiso said.

Cammiso could not be immediately reached for further details about the incident.

Written police reports examined by The Sun indicated Jason Levigne and Grabenhorst were taken into custody about 3:55 p.m. near Potter's Place, 29 W. Jefferson Ave. Heidi Levigne was arrested four hours later near Continental Audi of Naperville, 1527 Aurora Ave., according to those reports.

Neither Cammiso's release nor the reports specified the relationship between the Levignes, who share the same address.

The release also did not identify the businesses from which the trio allegedly stole; the estimated dollar value of the goods involved; or how Heidi Levigne made her way to the Aurora Avenue address where she was arrested.

An examination of court documents revealed none of the suspects has a criminal record in DuPage County, and none of them were in custody Wednesday night in DuPage County Jail. Their arraignment dates are pending.
