Many Netflix movies to disappear

MYFOXNY.COM -

The classic Woody Allen movie "Stardust Memories" is now just a memory in Netflix. That is because about a thousand classic movies, and some more recent ones, are being nixed from its catalogue.

The licensing agreements to carry certain movies have expired, so the titles have been dropped. Initially, there were reports that it was close to 2,000, but a Netflix spokesperson told us it's actually closer to a thousand.

Matthew Flamm, a Crain's senior reporter, said the James Bond catalog from MGM will be gone and some others, but a lot of the titles are ones that no one has ever heard of. The purge affects streaming only, so many of the titles could still be available for disc rental.

A Netflix spokesperson told us that the ebb and flow happens all the time, highlighting the addition of 500 new titles, including "The Hunger Games" and "Mission: Impossible II."

Netflix has its original drama, "House of Cards," and thousands of movies, TV shows, documentaries, and more to keep you occupied.
