HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

A house sits in a usually quiet neighborhood on a canal leading to Lake St. Clair just off Jefferson near Metropolitan Parkway in Harrison Township.  Suddenly the quiet was over as a neighbor, eight-year-old Jake, just happened to walk past the house.

"I heard gunshots.  I'm like, 'What's that?'  So I ran back home," he said.

The Macomb County sheriff said the homeowner, 64-year-old Leroy Davis, fired shots toward his own 24-year-old son.

"The information that we're also receiving from the father and even the son is that there was an argument over the son's lack of motivation," said Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.

The son told dad he was leaving the house to take a break, but dad was mad, according to the sheriff.

"The argument started and it kept escalating and it heated.  At one point, the son decided he was going to get out of that environment, got into his vehicle, father followed him out and fired three rounds from a shotgun at the vehicle's tires," Wickersham explained.

Jake and his parents called 911.  The son's 2002 Chevy Malibu had two tires shot out.  The car was peppered with holes.  In the driveway of the house, investigators found spent shotgun casings.

Leroy Davis was arraigned and charged with felonious assault and reckless discharge of a firearm.  The good news is nobody was injured.
