Posted: Updated:
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

St. Paul police are following up on leads in the search for Kira Trevino, focusing in on the Mississippi River on Thursday.

Ramsey and Dakota County sheriff water patrols began searching the Mississippi River around 10:30 a.m. near the Wakota bridge. St. Paul police spokesman Sgt. Paul Paulos said the team was following on leads in the area.

Trevino, 30, went missing on Feb. 21 and is presumed dead due to massive amounts of blood found in her car and home.

Her husband, Jeffery Trevino, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder on Feb. 28 and has pleaded not guilty.

Numerous, extensive searches have failed to recover a body.

The last official search for her body was on Keller Lake in Maplewood on March 27, Paulos said.

There is a tip line dedicated to the Trevino case. Anyone with information is urged to call St. Paul police at 651-560-3277.
