Parents Appear In Court After Death Of 2nd Child

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

A Northeast Philadelphia couple was found in violation of their probation Monday, following the sickness and death of their 8-month-old son Brandon.

Catherine and Herbert Schaible said nothing as they walked out of court with their attorneys.

The two have said they believe in prayer over medicine for their children but have now seen two children die while in their care.

In 2009, their 2-year-old son, Kent, died of pneumonia.

Just one year later, the couple was convicted of manslaughter and child endangerment and was required to seek immediate medical care whenever a child became sick.

Attorney Bobby Hoof, who represents Herbert Schaible, told FOX 29 his client was glad to avoid jail time after hearing the ruling.

The judge ruled the parents were not a risk to their remaining children, who are currently being cared for in three separate foster homes.
