PHOENIX (AP) - The city prosecutor in Yuma says he's reviewing a police request to file four misdemeanor charges against state Sen. Don Shooter for an incident where he barged into his teenage grandson's classroom and confronted the teacher.

Prosecutor Jan Cairns said Friday it could take about 30 days for a decision on whether charges are merited against the Yuma Republican.

The charges Yuma Police are seeking include assault, interference or disruption of an educational institution, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. Police spokeswoman Sgt. Leanne Worthen says the assault charge doesn't involve actual contact but is being requested because the teacher was fearful.

Police investigated Shooter after being told he confronted a teacher at his grandson's charter high school on March 22.

Shooter says the teacher was bullying his grandson.
