Prince once sang a song called "Sometimes It Snows in April," but the forecast hasn't been music to Minnesotans' ears lately and many are looking for ways to beat the winter blues.

The April snow certainly seems to be taking a toll on the spirit, but some folks turned to surfing lessons at the Water Park of America to help put them in a better state of mind as the unrelenting winter weather continues to linger.

"I actually wanted to get out and do something with [my daughter]," said Lenora Harris, who brought her family to the park for a quick summery splash. "I guess we got stuff indoors -- beats the hassle of having bugs and other stuff."

Despite a fresh blanket of snow, spring is in full bloom inside the conservatory at the Como Zoo.

"Wonderful fragrance in here, moist air -- gives us that first taste of what we are sure not getting outside," said Gale Westby.

Westby stopped by for the fresh flowers and tropical temperatures as a getaway from the gloom.

Still other FOX 9 viewers found their own ways of dealing with the winter doldrums, from dressing snowmen and women in swim wear to taking a spring break photo amid the snow.

Even so, a few folks told FOX 9 News they are so fed up with the flakes that they're looking for flights out of town. Although spring break season is over, there are still some pretty good deals to be had in sunnier locales.
