Which member of the Minnesota congressional delegation makes the best hotdish? U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) is set host his third annual competition find out who is most proficient with cream of mushroom or a shoestring potato.
Eight will join Franken to compete in the Hotdish Off on Wednesday, April 10: Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Reps. Michele Bachmann, Keith Ellison, Betty McCollum, Rick Nolan, Eric Paulsen, Collin Peterson, and Tim Walz.
Franken first started the competition in 2011 as a way to bring the delegation together, and what better method than a mutual passion for one of Minnesota's long-standing culinary namesakes?
"I'm very excited about hosting another Hotdish Off tomorrow," Sen. Franken said. "I'm looking forward to defending my title as the Minnesota delegation's hotdish champion and spending some quality time with the other members of the Minnesota delegation."
Last year, Sen. Franken's "Mom's Mahnomin Madness Hotdish" and former Rep. Chip Cravaack's "Minnesota Wild Strata Hotdish" tied for first place.
Former Congressmen Vin Weber and Gerry Sikorski will judge the competition and recipes of all entries will be posted on Sen. Franken's website: http://www.franken.senate.gov/
