Several brush fires burned in places around the New York tristate area.

The National Weather Service had issued a special weather statement saying that the high gusts of wind, dry condition, and warm temperatures create an "enhanced threat for the spread of wildfires."

Fires burned in Kearny, N.J., Ridgefield, N.J., Carlstadt, N.J., Queens, N.Y., and elsewhere.

Firefighters battled the Kearny fire for several hours.
