At least eight people lost their lives in weekend crashes on Minnesota roads, including a rollover crash on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis that killed three people Sunday.
"There were lives lost," State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske said. "It's families, it's friends. In most cases, it's preventable."
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the I-94 crash happened around 1 p.m. in the westbound lanes near 49th Avenue. There were eight people inside a Toyota Sienna minivan that overturned in the crash, ejecting several passengers.
The other vehicles involved were a 2011 Jeep Patriot and 2003 Honda Odyssey minivan. Troopers identified the driver of the Jeep as 18-year-old Casie Pawlik, of Brooklyn Park, Minn. The driver of the Honda Odyssey was identified as 38-year-old Roni Oberuomo, of Brooklyn Center, Minn. Neither driver suffered any apparent injury.
The State Patrol has not officially identified all of the passengers of the overturned van; however, the victims' pastor identified the dead as 80-year-old Modupe Olabisi, 44-year-old Olawuami Barbington and 16-year-old Oluwaseun Barbington.

A 32-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash. This crash is under investigation by the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, and no other information is currently available.

Lexington Ave and Victoria St, Shoreview
A 55-year-old pedestrian was hit by a vehicle. This crash is under investigation by the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office and no other information is currently available.

Northbound I-94 at 49th Ave, Minneapolis
An 80-year-old grandmother, her 44-year-old daughter and her 16-year-old grandson were killed in a three-vehicle crash. The victims' pastor identified the dead as Modupe Olabisi, Olawuami Barbington and Oluwaseun Barbington, telling FOX 9 News the family was heading home from when their van rolled.
The names of the injured: Akinbowale Barbington (51); Oluremi Ayodele Ogundare (61); Fisayo Abigail Barbington (15); Faith Barbington (12); Tobi Barbington (5). Two remain in critical condition, one in serious condition, and two in fair condition.

Motorcyclist Tyron Somaiah, 23, of Crystal, Minn., was killed after he ran a red light and hit an SUV that was in the intersection.

A 23-year-old woman killed when she ran off the road and hit a tree. This crash is under investigation by a Brooklyn Center Police Department and no other information is currently available.
