Republican lawmaker vows to freeze Vikings stadium funding

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

There may be a new roadblock on the path to building a new stadium for the Minnesota Vikings.

Republican Sen. Sean Nienow, who represents Anoka and Isanti counties in the north metro, says he plans to introduce a bill that would freeze the state's portion of the funding until a more stable revenue source can be found.

Under the stadium deal passed last year, the proceeds from electronic pull-tabs would pay for a large portion of the state's share; however, those revenues are millions short of projections.

Nienow says the prediction error requires immediate action.
