ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

The Minnesota National Guard says more than 120 soldiers are scheduled to return to Minnesota on Thursday after a year-long deployment to Afghanistan.

The soldiers are from the 257th Military Police Company and will be reunited with their families at the Monticello Armory.

"I am extremely proud of these soldiers and it's an especially good feeling that everyone is home safe on U.S. soil," Army Capt. Troy M. Hyland, 257th Military Police Company Commander said.

Hyland said he and his fellow soldiers had a successful working relationship with the Afghan National Army, and spent time coaching, teaching and mentoring them throughout their deployment.

"The emotions displayed by some when we left were truly heartfelt," Hyland said.
