Wolves lose 22nd straight to Lakers 120-117

Posted: Updated:

The last time the Timberwolves defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, "This is Why I'm Hot" by Mims was at the top of the Billboard charts and "300" was the number one movie in the country. It was March 6th, 2007 and Wednesday, the streak went to 22 straight losses to the Lakers with their 120-117 defeat. The streak is longest active streak in the NBA against any two teams.

Dwight Howard finished the game with 25 points and 16 rebounds for the Lakers, but it was Kobe Bryant's 31 that led all scorers. The Lakers used an 11-1 run to start the second half to turn a four point lead into a 61-47 lead. The Wolves made their run in the fourth quarter and fell just short when Ricky Rubio's game tying three point try wouldn't fall. Rubio was clearly fouled on the play by Bryant, but the officials didn't blow the whistle.

Nikola Pekovic led 8 different players in double figures with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Dante Cunningham added 18
