Three suspects were arrested Friday for allegedly stealing a dozen cases of stolen water flow valves in the west valley.

Peoria Police say 44-year-old Robert Goff, 32-year-old Steven Dewitt and 28-year-old Alison Farmer had at least 10 water flow valves with them when they were arrested. The valves were connected to a theft in Glendale.

According to officers, Goff, Dewitt and Farmer have also been linked to 20 cases in Scottsdale and 10 to 15 cases in Glendale.

The three allegedly targeted commercial areas where multiple water flow devices were in a row. Police say they would steal 5 to 10 valves at a time in the middle of the night.

The suspects could get about $100 per valve at a scarp yard, but the businesses had to pay thousands for repairs and had no access to water until the repairs were complete.

Police say the suspects caused about $75,000 worth of damages.

The Peoria Police Department encourages businesses to protect their water flow valves with cages and disk locks and to paint them blue to prevent thieves from targeting them.

Scrap yards won't take blue painted valves because they are linked to cities.
