Minnesota defeated Phoenix 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday extending their season long winning streak to seven games. The Minnesota Wild longest winning streak in team history was in 2007 and was nine games.
Wednesday, they jumped out to a 2-0 lead before watching the Coyotes storm back to take a 3-2 lead. With less than a minute left in the third period, Ryan Suter sent a wrist shot through traffic that found its way past Phoenix goalie Jason LaBarbera to tie the game and sent it into overtime.
Mikko Koivu scored in overtime as the Wild power play at 2:43 of the extra session when he walked in and put the puck under the left arm of LaBarbera for the game winner.
Torrey Mitchell and Matt Cullen scored in the first and second periods to give the team the 2-0 lead. Niklas Backstrom picked up the win making 27 saves.
