The Talker: LA restaurant tweets names of reservation no-shows

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Some customers eat at a restaurant, then go online and post a review. Now, one restaurant has started to review some of its customers--but only a very special batch of them.

In L.A., the Vietnamese fusion place Red Medicine heaped a 21st century serving of wrath on people who made reservations for last Saturday night, then did not show up. Not only did they not show up, they didn't call to cancel. So, the restaurant's manager and co-owner Noah Ellis went on Twitter and called them out.

His first tweet said: "Hi Kyle Anderson in the 323 area code. I hope you enjoyed your girlfriend's birthday and the flowers that you didn't bring when you no-showed for your 8:15 reservation. Thanks."

Next said: "Also, big thanks to Carlos Macmanus, Colin Rolfs, Allison Joyce, Sam Java, Daniella Brown, and Matt Lopez for no-showing between 7:30 and 9:30."

Finally, he said: "All the nice guests who wonder why restaurants overbook and they sometimes have to wait for their reservation should thank people like those."

An influential blog just named Red Medicine the 48th best restaurant in America, so it can afford to have swagger, but since Saturday nights are a restaurant's busiest, keeping every table full can make or break their chance at a profit. The restaurant is small and works off reservations--not walk-ins—so the tables sat empty.
