They can set, bump, and spike, but now one volleyball team in Houston also knows how to survive without a shower.
The Woodlands girls' volleyball team will not be hitting the showers at all this week to give their support to the non-profit, Well Aware. The organization, based in Austin, raises money to provide wells and clean drinking water to people in Africa.
Through the help of volunteers like the volleyball team, Well Aware has been able to provide clean, life-saving water systems to more than 15,000 people in Kenya since 2009.
The strike ends Friday, but the players have already raised more than $4,000 in their online campaign.
After a one-two punch of snowstorms, we're left with bitter cold. Even with plenty of sunshine today, look for highs only around 30-degrees. West winds 5-10 mph with feels like temperatures in the teens. Bundle up and watch for icy patches on roads and sidewalks.
The cold stays with us for a few more days.
Then, we start tracking another potentially messy wnitry storm, set to arrive on Saturday.
