WAYZATA, Minn. (KMSP) -

A train hit a street sweeper near the intersection of Grove Lane and Lake Street in Wayzata on Wednesday morning.

Barry Avenue and Ferndale Road are blocked and traffic is being redirected onto Hwy. 12.

Wayzata Police Chief Mike Risvold said the driver of sweeper was trying to cross over the tracks when the brushes of the sweeper got caught. The gates started coming down to signal the train approaching and the driver jumped out before train hit the sweeper.

Hennepin County Sheriff's Office officials say the driver walked away with only minor injuries.

The Burlington North Santa Fe train hit the sweeper from Carefree Services, a company based in Maple Plain, Minn.
