EAGLEVILLE, Pa. -

A Russian teenager adopted by a local family is now back in his home country, a situation that is fueling Russia's controversial ban on U.S. adoptions.

Alexander Abnosov, 18, in an interview on Russian state television, said his adoptive family was abusive and he ended up living on the streets of Philadelphia and stole just to survive.

He says his parents visited him in a Philadelphia shelter but never asked him to come home.

The adoptive mother denies driving him away.

Alexander spent the last five years in the Philadelphia area. He attended the Methacton School District.
