KIRA TREVINO MURDER: Cadaver dogs hit on 2 of 49 holes in Keller Lake

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (KMSP) -

The search for a missing St. Paul woman who is presumed dead continues to focus on a lake in Maplewood.

Kira Trevino has been missing for more than a month, and her husband, Jeffery Trevino, is facing murder charges; however, no body has been found.

Keller Lake became the focus of the investigation after volunteer searchers found a plastic bag containing blood-stained clothing matching Kira Trevino's DNA.

Wednesday morning, five cadaver-searching dogs were brought back to Keller Lake, sniffing a hit on two of the 49 holes drilled in the ice. The two holes the dogs acted on were 200 yards apart.

Investigators wouldn't say how close they feel they are to recovering a body, but no divers were called to the lake Wednesday.

Kira Trevino's father was at the lake on Wednesday in the hopes that his daughter would be found.

"The last three, four weeks has been really hard on the family and myself, and we're having a tough time dealing with it. We need closure,"  Jay Steger told FOX 9 News. "The longer this takes -- the searching, we're not getting the closure."

Charging documents say investigators found large quantities of blood in the couple's St. Paul home, which is fewer than two miles from the lake. The recently-amended complaint also claims video footage links Jeffery Trevino to moving his wife's car to the Mall of America ramp where it was discovered after she was reported missing on Feb. 24.
