Felon killed after ramming State Patrol squad with Harley

WINDOM, Minn. (KMSP) -

A felon armed with a knife was killed when he crashed his Harley-Davidson motorcycle head-on into a State Patrol squad during a high-speed chase in southwestern Minnesota.

According to the State Patrol, 33-year-old Chad Danneman, of Slayton, Minn. fled from Cottonwood and Murray County deputies in separate chases Saturday.

Trooper Jeffery Stearns spotted Danneman on a county road northwest of Windom and activated his squad lights. The State Patrol says

Danneman sped toward Trooper Jeffery Stearns' squad just north of Windom, Minn. and struck it head-on. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Trooper Stearns suffered minor injuries.

Danneman has prior convictions for making terrorist threats, felony drug possession, drunken driving and mistreatment of animals.
