Adult, 7 youths charged in alleged NJ sex assault

Posted: Updated:

LOWER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say seven juveniles and an adult face charges stemming from the alleged sexual assault of another youth during an outdoor gathering in southern New Jersey last week.

Cape May County prosecutors tell The Press of Atlantic City that some but not all of the suspects consumed alcohol during the March 15 gathering in a wooded area of Lower Township.

They say the victim was treated at a hospital after being sexually assaulted and physically abused, but further details on the victim and the incident were not disclosed.

Authorities say an 18-year-old woman was charged with child endangerment and conspiracy to endanger an injured victim. The seven juveniles face charges ranging from aggravated sexual assault to child endangerment to conspiracy.
