Here's something we'll bet you didn't know: Animal shelters, including the Delaware SPCA, say they have a tough time adopting out black cats and dogs.
It may be superstition, you know – the bad luck omen. Or it might be because black animals are tougher to photograph in ads for pet adoption.
Whatever the reason, it's a problem.
So, at the Delaware SPCA this month, they're pricing their black dogs and cats to move!
"We will, in most cases, waive the adoption fee. The adoption fee is usually $50 to $60," said the SPCA's Al Mollica. "And we'll provide a care package. If they adopt a cat, we'll provide some litter and toys and things of that nature. So, anything we can do within reason to try and stimulate interest in having folks come through the door and taking a look at our black animals."
Just think of the benefits: No one will notice, if your black pet leaves a few hairs behind on your tuxedo or cocktail dress, FOX 29's Bruce Gordon reported.
