PHILADELPHIA -
Air France wants to make it clear that the French national accused of making his way into the cockpit of a 747 on Thursday at Philadelphia International Airport is not one of their employees.
"FYI, this person doesn't work for AirFrance and wasn't wearing one of our uniform or badge (it was a very bad fake certificate)," the airline tweeted to FOX 29 News and others Friday morning after we reported on the arrest first Thursday night.
Phillipe Jernnard, 60, is expected to face federal charges in the matter during a court appearance Friday.
The FBI wants to know how Jernnard made his way into the cockpit after boarding a USAirways flight bound for Florida.
Police say Jernnard got upset after being denied a seat in business class. He allegedly told the flight crew he hated Americans.
But, eventually, he ended up in the cockpit, sitting in the jump seat right behind the captain.
Police said he was wearing an Air France shirt, carrying an Air France bag, and produced counterfeit airline credentials.
Airline passengers were shocked to hear of the breach.
Police say no passengers were in danger and the flight took off on time.
Jernnard has been charged by Philadelphia police with criminal trespassing, forgery, tampering with records or ID, falsely impersonating persons privately employed and false identification to a law enforcement officer.
