MT. CLEMENS, Mich. (WJBK) -
The Macomb Co. Sheriff says five people have been arrested in connection with a large number of home invasions since the beginning of the year.
Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says the crew is suspected in 45 break-ins in northern Macomb Co., as well as St. Clair and Lapeer Counties since Jan. 1.
Working off tips from victims, sheriffs were able to track the crew to a hotel in Roseville where detectives watched them discard items in a dumpster that matched the description of items taken during a home invasion in Ray Township.
A search of the hotel room uncovered a cache of stolen property, including three handguns, televisions, computers and jewelry worth an estimated $20,000.
Those in custody include Kevin Crockett, 21 of Fair Haven; Christopher Knotts, 32 of Richmond; Jonathon Johnson, 22 of New Haven; Michael Morelli, 41 of Marine City; and Jennifer Wilcox; 27 of Richmond. They were arraigned earlier this week on charges including home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, concealing stolen property and weapons charges.
