MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

The Metro Transit police say they are no longer looking for tips in a hit-and-run crash involving a light rail train because the driver has called in and is being interviewed.

Officials say the crash took place at about 1:30 p.m. when a westbound vehicle slid into a Hiawatha light rail train traveling south at 42nd Street East in Minneapolis and then fled the scene.

No injuries were reported on the train, but riders were asked to unload at the 46th Street station to board the following train.

The damaged train was running again in 20 minutes, according to Metro Transit. It is now out of service for assessment.

The crash also led to a 20-minute service delay on Monday afternoon.

Metro Transit police had sought tips in the incident but later said that the driver involved called at 2 p.m. and is currently being interviewed.
