WINTER STORM & BLIZZARD WARNINGS through 1 a.m. Tuesday

The metro area is currently under WINTER STORM & BLIZZARD WARNINGS through 1a.m. Tuesday morning.

About 1"-3" in the metro so far, only about 1" or so to come this afternoon.

An expected 2"-5" across the region today (some 5"-7"+ across far northern MN) are expected, but strong winds from 30-50mph this afternoon and evening will cause blowing and drifting concerns into tonight.

Temperatures start in the upper 20s, but will fall back into the lower 20s this evening.

Much of eastern Minnesota -- including the metro -- will remain under a winter weather advisory through Monday afternoon.

WINTER STORM WARNINGS:

Winter storm warnings are in effect for the following counties:

Anoka, Benton, Dakota, Goodhue, Hennepin, Isanti, Ramsey, Sherburne, Wadena, Washington counties.

BLIZZARD WARNINGS:

A blizzard warning, denoted by the pink area on the map, is active just west of the Twin Cities, affecting Carver, Kandiyohi, McLeod, Meeker, Nicollet, Rice, Scott, Sibley, Stearns, Todd and Wright counties.

Farther to the north, a winter storm warning is also in effect.

SNOW EMERGENCIES:

A snow emergency has been declared in Montevideo. No parking on avenues until plowed. No parking on streets after 8 a.m. until plowed.
