Fewer people are riding the Metro rails. The system saw a 6 percent drop in ridership between July and December of last year, compared to 2011. That translates to about 4.7 million passenger trips. An analysis says higher fares, weekend track work, and a temporary drop in federal transit benefits are among some of the factors to blame.
