Islanders deliver 10 count

Posted: Updated:

The DeLaSalle Islanders advanced to their third straight AAA title game 67-42. It was their defense that used full court pressure and speed to force the Magic into 14 turnovers that were turned into 34 points.

"It's beyond fun," said Allina Starr who scored 17 points in the win. "It's been our goal all year. We want our senior year to go out with a bang."

Patiance Griffin led the way for the Islanders with 18 points in just 15 minutes of play. Senior Tyseanna Johnson added 15 points.

"She hit four threes the last game," said Islanders head coach Faith Johnson Patterson about her sophomore Griffin. "She gets going and we just let her take the shot."

The Islanders will face Red Wing who upset Richfield in the other semi-final. The AAA championship will begin at 6PM on Saturday night.
