DETROIT (WJBK) -

Kalisha Nelson is visually impaired and a dialysis patient.  She has lived in her home on Detroit's west side for 34 years.  The garage in back is in serious disrepair and needs to be torn down, but she can't do it because of dozens of tires dumped in the dilapidated structure.

"That's not giving a good image of Detroit.  We are not like this," said Nelson.  "I don't have a car.  None of these tires are mine."

She has spent her own money to take care of the problem, but the tires keep coming.

Nelson simply can't afford to keep paying someone to come out and clear out the tires.  Fortunately, she's got a good neighbor that is willing to help her out.

We went to Bill's Tires and Rims.  He said he has a company that disposes of his tires, and he is willing to have them help Nelson.

"Absolutely, I will help her out," said Bill Smith.

"That's a start.  Once all the tires are gone, we can get it torn down and get a gate up because that's the ultimate goal," said Nelson.
