CTA approves fare increases starting this summer

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Riding Chicago public transit is going to get a bit more complicated this summer.

CTA board members have unanimously approved new fees for the "Ventra" program.

Train riders who buy a disposable, single-ride paper ticket will now pay $3. Riders who use the new Ventra card will not see an increase.

The CTA bus fare will remain at $2.25 for cash payments and at $2 if a transit card is used.
