ATLANTA -

A New York man plans to ride his bike nearly 1,000 miles to help Tripp Halstead and his family.

The 2-year-old Winder boy has been hospitalized since October after a large branch fell on him outside his daycare.

Dave Nazaroff has followed Tripp's recovery on Facebook. Dave and his wife were so inspired by the story that they started a fundraiser.

Nazaroff, a seven-time Ironman participant, says he's already raised close to $8,000 since posting the event online. He will ride his bike  from New York to Georgia and personally deliver the check.
