Icy road conditions lead to numerous accidents in morning rush

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Tuesday morning yielded a messy commute due to light snow flurries creating icy conditions on local expressways and roads.

In west suburban Winfield, a driver lost control of their vehicle and slammed into a light pole.

Both the car and light pole caught on fire forcing the closure of Winfield Road at Roosevelt Road for a couple of hours.

There were numerous other spin-outs and crashes including two in Algonquin and Carpentersville involving school buses.

No major injuries were reported and all the accidents have been cleared.
