Posted: Updated:

A 12-year-old boy was rescued after beach-goers formed a human-chain and pulled him from the sea off of a New Zealand beach.

The incident happened Sunday in the surf at Napier.

The boy was paddling into the surf when he was knocked down by the waves.

According to the DailyMailOnline, 12 passers-by held hands to form a human chain that reached the boy and allowed them to pass him back onto the beach.

The boy, identified as Josh McQuoid, was evaluated and discharged from the hospital after a short stay according to Stuff.co.nz.

Video of the incident was posted online.
