EAGAN, Minn. (KMSP) -
The Eagan Police Department is mourning the loss of K9 officer Zebo – a five-year veteran of the department who was put down after showing no signs of recovery from his rapidly-deteriorating condition.
Zebo was being treated for a debilitating intestinal disorder at the University of Minnesota. While recovering from a related surgery, the dog contracted pneumonia which complicated his recovery.
On March 8, veterinarians concluded Zebo was showing no signs of recovery. Due to his suffering and declining health, Zebo was euthanized.
Zebo served alongside Officer Robbe Waller. When they weren't making arrests, the well-known pair made many public appearances and gave demonstrations at local events.
With the passing of Zebo, the Eagan Police Department will be left with one canine – Badger -- until another dog can be trained.
