ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -
Late Thursday night, former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman announced that he will not run for public office in 2014 on Twitter.
Using several tweets, Coleman began his statement by saying public service is an important part of his life and will continue to be, but he doesn't have any intention of getting back on the campaign trail.
Instead, Coleman said he hopes to mentor a new generation of leaders who are optimistic, focused on limited government and are not "afraid to find common ground to solve problems."
Coleman continued to say he plans to focus his time and energy into helping the state elect senators and a governor.
