The 2013 Boys Hockey Tournament got underway Wednesday afternoon with class A action. It was the top seeds who advanced to the semi-finals setting up a fantastic semi-final between Breck and Hermantown.
Breck 6 Marshall 1
The Mustangs scored early and often as they made quick work of Marshall who made their first trip to St. Paul. Breck scored on their first two shots of the game and never looked back advancing to the semi-finals. The Mustangs outshot the Tigers 18-3 in the first period, and finished the game 40-17.
Hermantown 3 Duluth Marshall 0
The Hawks top line took care of business as Bo Gronseth, Travis Koepke and Chris Benson each scored a goal, two on the power play in the shutout win. After the teams played a scoreless first period, Gronseth and Koepke scored goals four minutes a part setting the tone for the Hawks. Goaltender Adam Smith made 17 saves in the win.
"I get into trouble everytime we come down here," said Hermantown head coach Bruce Plante. "We might be the only ones left after tonight." - On his team playing for the public school championship.
