Morning murder at Cedar Ave. apartment building

Minneapolis police are investigating an overnight murder at an apartment building on Cedar Avenue.

Officers were called to the apartment at E. 28th Street and Cedar Ave. S. around 4:30 a.m. Monday, where they found 48-year-old Frank Patterson suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Patterson was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he passed away a short time later.

The circumstances surrounding the murder were not immediately clear.
