Michigan tomatoes for Meijer grown year-round at greenhouse

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -
Meijer is now selling fresh, vine-ripened, Michigan-grown tomatoes year-round.
The vegetables are grown in a state-of-the-art, hydroponic greenhouse in Coldwater.
Michigan tomatoes are ripe from July through October, but the technology at the greenhouse allows for fresh, high-quality vegetables regardless of outdoor conditions.
The Coldwater greenhouse is the first of its kind in the Midwest. It uses unique grow lights, water filtration systems and alternative energy sources that ensure optimal growing conditions twelve months a year.
