82-year-old woman bound, robbed at gunpoint in Wilmette home

WILMETTE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
An 82-year-old northwest suburban woman was tied up in her home while being robbed at Thursday night, and police are looking for three people who forced there way in wearing masks.
The incident took place about 9:30 p.m. Thursday night in the 2500 block of Marion Lane in Wilmette, as the woman was leaving the house to walk her dog, according to a report from Wilmette police.
Three masked individuals, one armed with a handgun, forced her back inside where they bound the victim before ransacking her home. An undisclosed amount of jewelry and cash were taken, police said.
The victim was discovered and freed by family members who returned home about 10:30 p.m. She was hospitalized with minor injuries.
According to police, the family owns a restaurant in Chicago and appears to have been specifically targeted for the crime.
Detectives are following up on leads associated with this case. Anyone with information should call Det. Sgt. Michael McGarry at (847) 920-3505.
