MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (KMSP) -
Friends and family of 16-year-old Anna Hurd say her boyfriend, 17-year-old Anthony Mitchell, is in custody accused of stabbing her to death. His first court appearance will be on Monday.
Maplewood police made the arrest Friday afternoon in the murder of 16-year-old Anna Hurd, whose body was found in Hillside Park in the early morning hours of Feb. 23.
Mitchell reportedly discovered her and called 911, but she was dead by the time emergency responders arrived. He told FOX 9 that Hurd left his nearby home on foot and never made it to a friend's house, so he went looking for her.
Hurd's body was found with multiple stab wounds in a wooded area of Hillside Park, just blocks away from her family's North St. Paul home.
