Rescue Crews Still Searching For Man Lost In Sinkhole

Posted: Updated:
SEFFNER, Fla. -

There are still no signs of life after a Florida man was swallowed by a giant sinkhole inside his own home Thursday night.

Jeff Bush, 36, remains missing from his Seffner, Fla., home after the enormous sinkhole opened up underneath his bedroom.

The victim's brother, Jeremy Bush, heard his brother's screams and tried to save him. The hole nearly swallowed him too, as he attempted to pull his brother out, but rescuers were able to pull Jeremy back to safety.

Five adults and one child were in the home at the time of the incident.

Jeremy told reporters, "I jumped in the hole and tried digging him out, and I couldn't get him." "I thought I could hear him screaming for me and hollering for me to help him, but I couldn't do nothing."

The hole is slowly consuming the house, extending 50 feet in all directions. The neighborhood has been evacuated.

Rescue crews are still on scene, searching for the victim.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
